Egypt has recorded about 490,000 real estate tax filings covering more than 830,000 property units on its digital real estate tax platform, according to Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk.
Egypt has recorded about 490,000 real estate tax filings covering more than 830,000 property units since the launch of its electronic real estate tax platform, Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk said, in an announcement reported by Daily News Egypt on September 7, 2026.
The submitted declarations covered more than 830,000 property units, including 636,000 residential units and 188,000 non-residential properties, in addition to more than 6,000 other establishments.
Kouchouk said the strong uptake reflects growing public confidence in the government's efforts to simplify tax procedures and encourage voluntary compliance through digital services. He noted that users have also paid EGP 28 million on account of real estate taxes to benefit from the newly introduced facilities.
"Thank you to taxpayers who responded positively and engaged with us," the minister said. The Ministry of Finance has stepped up efforts to modernise Egypt's tax administration and expand the use of digital platforms as part of a broader strategy aimed at simplifying procedures, reducing administrative burdens and improving communication with taxpayers.
The new facilities for real estate taxpayers are designed to simplify filing and payment procedures and encourage property owners to regularise their tax positions through streamlined digital channels. Kouchouk noted that the ministry will continue to simplify procedures and further develop the mobile application while addressing any challenges facing users.
