Engineers Demand Runoff Rules for New Developments to Tackle Flooding

Ghana’s engineers say bigger drains alone will not stop urban flooding. Their proposed policy would require developers to manage stormwater on-site before it overwhelms city drainage systems.

The Ghana Institution of Engineering (GhIE) is calling for a National Post-Development Runoff Control Policy aimed at reducing the growing flood risks facing Accra and other rapidly urbanizing areas.
